Overview

On 13th December 2024, Clients experienced issues accessing the Currencycloud platform.

Client Impact

For a period of 16 minutes between 13:20 and 13:36 Clients received error messages when accessing the platform and impact to the following API endpoints:

• /v2/reference/permitted_currencies
• /v2/accounts/cash_manager_configuration
• /v2/payments/quote_payment_fee
• /v2/reference/payment_fee_rules
• /v2/bulk_uploads/find
• /v2/payments/create
• /v2/transactions/findIncident

Detailed Root Cause

The root cause was an improperly executed database index renaming that caused unexpected resource locking and connection disruptions.

Remediation

All indexing work was been stopped and changes reverted to prevent further impact to the platform.
